What Is Your Story?

This morning I woke up after a rough night and decided to go out on the deck, sit with the sun and do a practice called Morning Pages. Author Julia Cameron turned me on to and I love it. I often have my clients do the same thing with amazing results.

It’s a powerful practice because you just sit and free write what’s on your heart and mind. It’s a way to release ideas, emotions and stories from your system. It helps bring forth self inquiry and awareness to help you with anything you are currently dealing with.

I grabbed a journal opened it up and there were questions written on the page that I wanted to share with you if you wish to join along.

  • How do I want to feel?
  • Who do I want to be?
  • What do I want to receive?
  • What do I want to give?
  • Reaffirm how you want to feel?

After I answered those questions I closed my eyes, took a deep breath and began to write.

I was feeling hurt and I wanted to un-hurt.

I asked myself where was it coming from? I traced it back to a current experience and then went back even further.

When did I first feel this way?

Ah… as a child.

We all are products of our environment. The experiences we have had. This becomes our story and our subconscious pattern of how we relate to life and all our relationships, and our world view. We walk around with a series of stories that get recycled, season after season, generation after generation and relationship after relationship. Believe it or not, this is where the imbalance of our heart and mind begins and dis-ease can begin to grow in the body.

How do we heal and break the cycle?

We bring into awareness our story, our patterns and what has been communicated to us and what we are communicating to ourselves, to the world and all our relations. I have a practice I like to share called thought tracking or story tracking. In this process we become the observer, the creator, the author and editor of our story, our life and our health.

When we realize that we have the power to change the future by healing the past and write a new story, healing happens. Think of it as recording over a cassette tape with a new song and new story that you bring forth to a healing world.

When we heal the heart and mind the body and world will follow.

This is how we break the cycle.

This is where we have the power to heal and live in love.
